Ingredients

  • 1 (16 oz) can refrigerated biscuits

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage

  • 3 cups frozen shredded hashbrowns

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or more to taste)

  • 2½ cups milk

  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • Optional: ½ teaspoon garlic powder or paprika for extra flavor

Instructions

1. Preheat & Prepare

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or large oven-safe skillet.

2. Cook the Sausage

  • In a large skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium heat until browned.

  • Remove and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pan.

3. Make the Gravy

  • To the same skillet, whisk in the flour and stir for 1 minute.

  • Slowly pour in the milk, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.

  • Cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.

  • Season with salt, pepper, and optional spices.

  • Add the cooked sausage back into the gravy and mix well.

4. Assemble the Bake

  • Layer the frozen hashbrowns at the bottom of the baking dish.

  • Pour the sausage gravy evenly over the top.

  • Sprinkle with 1½ cups of cheese.

  • Arrange the biscuits on top (uncooked).

5. Bake

  • Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden and cooked through.

  • In the last 5 minutes of baking, sprinkle remaining cheese on top and return to oven until melted.

✅ Serving Tips

  • Garnish with chopped chives or parsley for a fresh finish.

  • Serve with fresh fruit or a side salad to balance the richness.

  • Best enjoyed warm right out of the oven!
