  • 1 large egg

  • 1/2 cup finely chopped yellow onion

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 slice white bread, crusts removed and shredded

  • 1/3 cup Italian-seasoned panko breadcrumbs

  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped Italian parsley

  • 1.5 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

How to Make Classic Italian Spicy Meatballs

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.

  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef and spicy sausage.

  3. Add egg, onion, garlic, shredded bread, and breadcrumbs to the meat mixture.

  4. Sprinkle in parsley, crushed red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.

  5. Mix everything together gently using your hands or a spatula. Be careful not to overmix to keep the meatballs tender.

  6. Roll the mixture into 1.5-inch balls and place them evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet.

  7. Drizzle or brush the tops lightly with olive oil to help them brown.

  8. Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F / 74°C).

  9. Serve hot with your favorite marinara sauce, over spaghetti, or inside a crusty Italian sub roll.
