Fried Mozzarella Sticks

Ingredients:

  • Mozzarella cheese sticks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Marinara sauce for dipping

1. **Prepare Breading Station**: Set up three shallow bowls. Place flour in the first bowl, beaten eggs in the second bowl, and breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper in the third bowl.

2. **Coat Mozzarella Sticks**: Dip each mozzarella stick into the flour, then the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with the seasoned breadcrumbs. Make sure each stick is evenly coated.

3. **Freeze Mozzarella Sticks**: Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze them for about 30 minutes to help the breading set.

4. **Fry Mozzarella Sticks**: Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (180°C). Carefully add a few mozzarella sticks at a time and fry until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes. Do not overcrowd the fryer.

5. **Drain and Serve**: Once fried, remove the mozzarella sticks with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

6. **Serve**: Serve the fried mozzarella sticks hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
