Perfect for sharing, this dish features a crusty loaf of bread stuffed with melted cheese and a flavorful garlic herb butter. Baked to golden perfection, it’s a crowd-pleaser that’s ideal for parties, family gatherings, or simply enjoying as a comforting snack.
Ingredients:
- 1 large round loaf of bread (sourdough or French bread works well)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Aluminum foil
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the Bread:
- Place the loaf of bread on a cutting board. Using a sharp knife, make diagonal cuts across the bread, about 1 inch apart, without cutting all the way through. Rotate the bread and make diagonal cuts in the opposite direction, creating a crosshatch pattern.
- Make the Garlic Herb Butter:
- In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley. Stir until well mixed.
- Stuff the Bread:
- Carefully pull apart the bread sections and drizzle the garlic herb butter into the cuts, ensuring it reaches deep into the bread.
- Stuff the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese into the cuts, distributing it evenly throughout the bread.
- Wrap and Bake:
- Place the stuffed loaf on a large piece of aluminum foil. Wrap the foil around the bread, leaving the top slightly open to allow the bread to crisp up.
- Place the wrapped bread on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes.
- Unwrap and Brown:
- After 15-20 minutes, open the foil completely to expose the top of the bread. Continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the bread is golden brown.
- Serve:
- Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
- Serve warm, pulling apart the bread pieces to enjoy the cheesy, garlicky goodness.
Tips:
- Cheese Variations: Feel free to use a combination of your favorite cheeses, such as cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Gouda, for different flavor profiles.
- Herb Options: Add other fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary, or chives to the garlic butter for additional flavor.
