Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
    • Add the egg and vanilla extract, and beat until well combined.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  3. Shape the Cookies:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
    • Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
    • Pipe the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, forming various shapes such as rosettes, shells, or circles.
  4. Bake the Cookies:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
    • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve the butter cookies as a delightful treat with tea or coffee, or as a sweet snack.

Tips:

  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the dough.
  • If you don’t have a piping bag, you can roll the dough into small balls and flatten them slightly with a fork.
