These ribs are the epitome of southern comfort food, offering a smoky, tender, and flavorful experience that’s hard to beat. Whether you’re hosting a summer cookout or simply craving some mouthwatering barbecue, this guide will help you achieve rib perfection.
Ingredients:
- 2 racks of pork ribs
- 1/4 cup yellow mustard
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Your favorite barbecue sauce
For the Dry Rub:
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Ribs:
- Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for better flavor absorption and tenderness.
- In a small bowl, mix the mustard, apple cider vinegar, and olive oil. Rub this mixture all over the ribs.
- Apply the Dry Rub:
- In another bowl, combine all the dry rub ingredients.
- Generously coat both sides of the ribs with the dry rub, pressing it into the meat.
- Marinate:
- Let the ribs sit for at least an hour to absorb the flavors. For best results, cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Prepare the Smoker:
- Preheat your smoker to 225°F (110°C). Use wood chips or chunks (such as hickory or applewood) for that authentic smoky flavor.
- Smoke the Ribs:
- Place the ribs directly on the smoker grates, bone side down.
- Smoke the ribs for 3 hours, maintaining a consistent temperature.
- Wrap the Ribs:
- After 3 hours, wrap the ribs tightly in aluminum foil to keep them moist. Return them to the smoker and cook for an additional 2 hours.
- Sauce and Finish:
- Unwrap the ribs and brush them with your favorite barbecue sauce.
- Place the ribs back on the smoker, unwrapped, and cook for another hour to allow the sauce to set and the ribs to become tender.
- Serve:
- Let the ribs rest for a few minutes before slicing.
- Serve with additional barbecue sauce on the side and enjoy the smoky, savory goodness.
These perfectly smoked barbecue ribs are sure to be a hit at any gathering. The combination of the dry rub, smoking process, and barbecue sauce results in ribs that are bursting with flavor and incredibly tender.
