Cheesy Ground Beef and Bacon Casserole
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 4 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 3 cups thinly sliced potatoes
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the Ground Beef:
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. Drain any excess fat.
- Prepare the Potatoes:
- Thinly slice the potatoes and set aside.
- Mix the Sauce:
- In a bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Assemble the Casserole:
- In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
- Spread half of the ground beef mixture over the potatoes.
- Pour half of the soup mixture over the ground beef.
- Sprinkle with half of the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, ground beef mixture, soup mixture, and cheddar cheese.
- Top with crumbled bacon and shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake the Casserole:
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the potatoes are tender.
- Serve:
- Garnish with chopped green onions if desired.
- Serve hot.
