Beef Stir-Fry with Bell Peppers and Onions

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sliced green onions (optional, for garnish)
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Beef:
    • In a bowl, combine the sliced beef, soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Cook the Beef:
    • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
    • Add the marinated beef and cook until it is browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Stir-Fry the Vegetables:
    • In the same skillet, add the sliced red bell pepper, green bell pepper, and onion. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes, until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
    • Add the minced garlic and grated ginger and stir-fry for another 30 seconds.
  4. Combine and Finish:
    • Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables.
    • Pour in the beef broth and stir to combine all the ingredients. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly.
    • Drizzle with sesame oil if desired and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve the beef stir-fry hot over cooked rice.
    • Garnish with sliced green onions if desired.
