Savory Beef and Cheese Pinwheels
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese of your choice)
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough or pizza dough
- 1 egg, beaten (for brushing)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Directions:
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cook Beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat. Add the chopped onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion is soft, about 3-5 minutes. Season with salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, and smoked paprika.
- Prepare Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough or pizza dough on a flat surface. If using crescent roll dough, pinch the seams together to form one large rectangle.
- Add Filling: Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the beef.
- Roll and Cut: Starting from one long side, roll the dough up tightly into a log. Cut the log into 1-inch thick slices.
- Bake: Place the pinwheels cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
- Bake in Preheated Oven: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the pinwheels are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve: Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm.
