Cheesy Baked Meatloaf
Ingredients:
- For the Meatloaf:
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- For the Topping:
- 1 cup marinara or tomato sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley
Directions:
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, milk, beaten eggs, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, dried parsley, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper.
- Mix everything until well combined but do not overwork the meat.
- Shape the Meatloaf:
- Transfer the meat mixture into a loaf pan or shape it into a loaf shape on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake the Meatloaf:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Add the Topping:
- Remove the meatloaf from the oven and spread the marinara or tomato sauce over the top.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, and dried parsley evenly over the sauce.
- Final Bake:
- Return the meatloaf to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown.
- Serve:
- Allow the meatloaf to rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- Serve warm, garnished with additional dried parsley if desired.
