Ingredients

  • Pasta Shells: Medium-sized pasta shells that hold the sauce well.
  • Ground Beef: Provides the protein for the meat sauce.
  • Onion: Adds flavor to the sauce.
  • Garlic: Enhances the flavor.
  • Bell Peppers: Adds color and flavor.
  • Tomato Sauce or Marinara: The base for the sauce.
  • Diced Tomatoes: Adds texture and flavor to the sauce.
  • Italian Seasoning: Adds depth of flavor with herbs like oregano and basil.
  • Salt and Pepper: For seasoning.
  • Olive Oil: Used for sautéing.
  • Parmesan Cheese (optional): For serving.

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta:
    • Cook the pasta shells according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Meat Sauce:
    • In a large skillet or saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and bell peppers, sautéing until soft.
    • Add the minced garlic and ground beef, cooking until the beef is browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
    • Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and Italian seasoning. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
    • Let the sauce simmer for about 10-15 minutes to blend the flavors.
  3. Combine and Serve:
    • Add the cooked pasta shells to the sauce and mix well to coat.
    • Serve hot, optionally topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
