Cook over medium heat in a large roasting oven Put the minced meat in it. Drain off excess fat. Add onions and peppers and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Reduce the heat to low and add the garlic. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.Add apple cider vinegar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, barbecue sauce, ketchup, chili powder and water.
Simmer for 10-15 minutes and pour over the rolls.
NOTES
Use ground beef with a little fat. Fat gives meat flavor and makes it juicy and tasty. Simply drain off any excess fat after browning the ground meat and cooking the vegetables.Ground beef can be replaced with ground turkey, ground chicken, or ground pork.
Use a spicy barbecue sauce with little sugar. I like Stubbs barbecue sauce.
If the mixture seems a little drier than you’d like, simply add a little more water, barbecue sauce, or ketchup.
Pour over brioche bread, freshly baked hamburger buns, rice or pasta. For more flavor, add a few pinches of red pepper flakes, 1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper, or a teaspoon of hot sauce. Freeze
Sloppy Joe Beef Mix in a freezer bag or freezer container for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator and reheat in the microwave or on the stove over low heat.
