Ingredients:

  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 16 pieces frozen pork wontons
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Shaoxing cooking wine
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 heads bok choy, chopped
  • ½ pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 scallions, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Chili oil (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Broth:
In a medium saucepan over high heat, combine the chicken broth, minced ginger, soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, and sesame oil. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  2. Simmer:
Cover the pot, reduce the heat to medium, and let the broth simmer for about 10 minutes to meld the flavors.
  3. Cook the Wontons:
Add the frozen wontons to the simmering broth. Cook until the wontons float to the top, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add Bok Choy and Shrimp:
Stir in the bok choy and shrimp. Cook until the bok choy is tender and the shrimp turn pink, about 3–5 minutes.
  5. Season:
Taste the broth and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper, if needed.
  6. Assemble the Bowls:
Using a slotted spoon, transfer the shrimp and bok choy to 4 serving bowls, dividing them equally. Add 4 wontons to each bowl.
  7. Serve the Soup:
Ladle the hot broth over the shrimp, wontons, and bok choy. Drizzle with chili oil, if desired, for a spicy kick.
