Our Amish cinnamon bread has a bakery-fresh flavor! A few simple ingredients can be used to make Amish cinnamon bread very quickly and easily. It’s wonderful for breakfast, dessert, or even as a housewarming present.
Ingredients
For The Batter:
- 1 cup softened butter
- Sugar, two cups
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups milk + 2 teaspoons of vinegar or lemon juice equals 2 cups of store-bought or homemade buttermilk.
- 4-cups of flour
- Baking soda, two tablespoons
For The Cinnamon/Sugar Mixture:
- 2 tablespoons of cinnamon
- 2/3 cup sugar
How To Make Amish Cinnamon Bread
Butter, 2 cups of sugar, and eggs are whipped together. Baking soda, milk, and flour are added. In oiled loaf pans, pour 1/2 of the batter (or a little less) into each pan. Mix the cinnamon and 2/3 cup sugar in a separate bowl.
The 1/2 batter in each pan should be topped with 3/4 of the cinnamon mixture. Add the remaining batter to the pans and cover with the last layer of cinnamon sugar. Use a knife to whirl. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes at 350 degrees, or until a toothpick tester comes out clean. 20 minutes should pass for the pan to cool before removal. yields two loaves
