Ingredients for Amish Hamburger Steak Bake
For the Hamburger Steaks:

1 ½ lbs ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)

½ cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)

1 small onion, finely chopped
-
1 egg
-
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
-
1 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1 teaspoon onion powder
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
½ teaspoon black pepper
For the Gravy & Bake:
-
2 tablespoons butter
-
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
-
2 cups beef broth
-
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
½ teaspoon black pepper
-
½ teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
-
½ cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
How to Make Amish Hamburger Steak Bake
Step 1: Prepare the Hamburger Steaks

In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Shape into 4-5 patties.
Step 2: Brown the Patties
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Transfer them to a greased baking dish.
Step 3: Make the Gravy
In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden. Slowly whisk in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and thyme. Stir until the gravy thickens. Add mushrooms if using.
Step 4: Assemble & Bake
Pour the gravy over the browned hamburger steaks. Cover with foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes.
Step 5: Serve & Enjoy
Remove from the oven and let rest for a few minutes. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or your favorite sides.
