INGREDIENTS
- 6 1/2 pounds apples, peeled, cored and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 spoon vanilla extract
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Add the apples to the slow cooker.
Step 2: Add sugar, cinnamon, salt and vanilla to the pan. Mix well.
Step 3: Cook in the slow cooker over low heat for about 10 hours, stirring every few hours. The apple butter should be thick and dark brown.
Step 4: If desired, use a blender and puree the apple butter until smooth.
Step 5: Cover and refrigerate for up to two weeks or freeze in a small container
