Apple Crumble Cake is an easy recipe that family and friends will try again and again.

Ingredients:

Cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1½ teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups diced apples
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice

Ground topping:

  • ⅓ cup light brown sugar
  • ⅔ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup butter, cold

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F ( 350°F) and butter a 9-inch square pan or line it with parchment paper.
    In a medium bowl, combine chopped apples with lemon juice.
  2. In another medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. In a bowl, beat the butter and both types of sugar until fluffy, about 4 minutes.Add egg and vanilla and mix until well combined.
  4. Add half of the dry ingredients and mix until well combined. Then add half of the sour cream and stir.
  5. Repeat with remaining flour and sour cream. Stir everything until smooth.Gently fold in the diced apples, being careful not to overmix them.
  6. Pour the dough into the prepared pan and spread it evenly around all edges.
  7. For the streusel topping, mix the flour, sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Add the cold butter and mix until a coarse flour forms.
  8. Sprinkle the cake batter with sprinkles.Bake until lightly browned and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 50 minutes. Allow to cool before serving.
  9. Preparation time: 20 minutes Cooking time: 50 minutes Total time: 1 hour 10 minutes
