Chocolate Chip Custard Pudding

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
  2. Add Milk: Gradually whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth.
  3. Heat the Mixture: Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture begins to thicken and comes to a gentle boil.
  4. Add Egg Yolks: In a small bowl, lightly beat the egg yolks. Gradually add a small amount of the hot milk mixture to the egg yolks, whisking constantly, to temper them.
  5. Combine Mixtures: Return the egg yolk mixture to the saucepan and continue to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the pudding thickens.
  6. Add Flavor: Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. Mix in Chocolate Chips: Allow the pudding to cool slightly before folding in the chocolate chips.
  8. Serve: Pour the pudding into individual serving glasses or bowls. Let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until set.
