Chocolate Chip Custard Pudding
Ingredients:
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Prepare Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
- Add Milk: Gradually whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth.
- Heat the Mixture: Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture begins to thicken and comes to a gentle boil.
- Add Egg Yolks: In a small bowl, lightly beat the egg yolks. Gradually add a small amount of the hot milk mixture to the egg yolks, whisking constantly, to temper them.
- Combine Mixtures: Return the egg yolk mixture to the saucepan and continue to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the pudding thickens.
- Add Flavor: Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Mix in Chocolate Chips: Allow the pudding to cool slightly before folding in the chocolate chips.
- Serve: Pour the pudding into individual serving glasses or bowls. Let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until set.
