Classic Chocolate Brownies
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Oven and Pan:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Melt the Butter:
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Mix the Wet Ingredients:
- Stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Add the Dry Ingredients:
- Add the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Add Chocolate Chips (Optional):
- If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
- Bake the Brownies:
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (do not overbake for fudgy brownies).
- Cool and Serve:
- Allow the brownies to cool in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
