Classic Strawberry Shortcake Recipe:

Ingredients:

– 1 quart fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
– 1/4 cup granulated sugar
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1/4 cup granulated sugar
– 1 tablespoon baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
– 2/3 cup milk
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– Whipped cream

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
2. In a bowl, mix the sliced strawberries with 1/4 cup of sugar. Set aside to let the strawberries release their juices.
3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
4. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
5. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until just combined.
6. Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, forming 6 shortcakes.
7. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
8. Once baked, let the shortcakes cool slightly.
9. To assemble, slice the shortcakes in half horizontally. Place a spoonful of strawberries on the bottom half, top with whipped cream, and then place the other half of the shortcake on top.
10. Add more strawberries and whipped cream on top.
11. Serve and enjoy your delicious homemade Strawberry Shortcake!
