There’s juicy, juicy meatloaf on the bottom and creamy mashed potatoes on top.

Think of it as a cross between American Meat Pie and English Shepherd’s Pie.

Wow, this is the crossover you didn’t know you needed.The meatloaf layer is flavored with sweet honey barbecue sauce and chili powder, giving it a wonderful combination of sweet and savory with a twist.

The dressing doesn’t just consist of simple mashed potatoes either. With bacon pieces and fried onions, it is creamy and crispy at the same time.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Ore-Ida® Steam n’ Mash® Russet Potatoes, sliced ​​ 1 pound lean ground beef (beef or turkey)
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/3 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup Daniel’s ® Jack Barbecue Sauce, Honey Smokehouse™
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup condensed milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup crumbled real bacon
  • 1/4 cup crispy fried onion, canned
  • 2/3 cup Mexican blend cheese, grated

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Coat a 9×9 baking pan with oil nonstick spray. In a large bowl, mix together the beef, onions, breadcrumbs, barbecue sauce, egg, chili powder and salt until well combined. Press carefully into the bottom of the baking dish.2. Bake uncovered for 20 to 25 minutes or until cooked through. Carefully remove excess fat if necessary. Set oven to broil and position oven rack 6 to 8 inches from heat source.
