Cranberry Pecan Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a large saucepan, combine the cranberries, granulated sugar, brown sugar, orange juice, water, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg.
  2. Cook the Sauce: Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Add Pecans: Stir in the chopped pecans and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. Cool and Serve: Remove the saucepan from heat and let the sauce cool to room temperature. If using, stir in the orange zest. Transfer the sauce to a serving bowl and refrigerate until ready to serve.
