1½ pounds russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced

1 medium onion, sliced thin

2 tablespoons vegetable oil or butter

Instructions

Prepare the ingredients:
Wash, peel, and slice the potatoes into thin, uniform rounds. Slice the onion thinly. -
Preheat the pan:
Heat the oil or butter in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat until shimmering. -
Cook the potatoes:
Add the sliced potatoes to the skillet in an even layer. Let them cook undisturbed for 4–5 minutes to develop a golden crust. -
Add onions:
Add the sliced onions on top. Stir occasionally and continue to fry for about 15–20 minutes, or until the potatoes are crispy and the onions are soft and caramelized. -
Season and serve:
Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and optional paprika or garlic powder. Serve hot as a delicious side or satisfying snack.
