Fluffy Biscuits
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup buttermilk, cold
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix Dry Ingredients:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
- Cut in the Butter:
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture.
- Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add Buttermilk:
- Pour the cold buttermilk into the flour and butter mixture.
- Stir gently with a fork until the dough begins to come together.
- Knead the Dough:
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
- Knead gently just until the dough comes together, being careful not to overwork it.
- Shape and Cut Biscuits:
- Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
- Use a biscuit cutter or a round glass to cut out biscuits, re-rolling the scraps as needed.
- Bake:
- Place the biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
- Serve:
- Serve warm with your favorite jam, butter, or honey.
