Why You’ll Love This Fried Bologna Sandwich

Crispy fried bologna, melty cheese, and tangy mustard tucked between slices of golden-toasted white bread—this sandwich is pure comfort food. It’s budget-friendly, quick to make, and loaded with savory flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 to 2 slices white bread

  • 1 slice bologna (use 2 if you like it meatier)

  • 1 slice American cheese

  • 1 tablespoon mustard (yellow or Dijon)

  • 1/8 teaspoon oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Heat the Pan
Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 1/8 teaspoon of oil.

  2. Fry the Bologna
Add the bologna slice(s) to the skillet. Fry until browned and crispy on the edges, about 1–2 minutes per side. You can cut a small slit in the center of the bologna to prevent it from curling.

  3. Toast the Bread (Optional)
Toast the bread in the same skillet or separately in a toaster for extra crunch and flavor.

  4. Assemble the Sandwich
Spread mustard on one or both slices of bread. Place the fried bologna on the bread, top with a slice of American cheese, and close the sandwich.

  5. Optional: Melt the Cheese
Return the assembled sandwich to the pan and grill for 1–2 minutes per side to melt the cheese and crisp the bread further.

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve with potato chips or pickles for a classic diner-style lunch.

  • Add a fried egg or tomato slice for a heartier twist.

  • Great with iced tea, soda, or a hot cup of coffee.
