Looking for a bold and hearty dish packed with flavor? This Fried Cabbage with Shrimp, Sausage & Bacon is a Southern comfort classic that hits every craving. With smoky bacon, juicy shrimp, savory sausage, and tender cabbage, it’s a quick and satisfying one-pan meal perfect for weeknight dinners or family gatherings.

 Ingredients

  • 5 slices bacon, chopped

  • ½ cup yellow onions, chopped

  • 3 cups green cabbage, thinly sliced

  • 10–12 medium shrimp, deveined and tails removed

  • 1 smoked sausage or kielbasa link, sliced into coins

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp seafood seasoning (like Old Bay or Cajun blend)

  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

 Instructions

1. Cook the Bacon

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove it from the pan and set aside, leaving the rendered bacon fat in the skillet.

2. Sauté the Onions & Sausage

Add the chopped onions and sliced sausage to the skillet with the bacon fat. Cook for about 4–5 minutes until the onions soften and the sausage starts to brown.

3. Add the Cabbage

Stir in the shredded cabbage and drizzle with olive oil. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 7–10 minutes or until the cabbage becomes tender but not mushy.

4. Season & Add Shrimp

Sprinkle in the seafood seasoning and smoked paprika. Toss in the shrimp and cook for another 3–5 minutes until the shrimp are pink and cooked through.

5. Finish with Bacon

Return the cooked bacon to the skillet, stir to combine, and let everything heat through for another minute.

6. Serve & Enjoy

Serve hot straight from the skillet. It’s delicious on its own or over rice for a heartier meal.

 Tips for Best Results

  • Use fresh shrimp for maximum flavor and texture.

  • Smoked sausage or kielbasa adds that savory depth—don’t skip it!

  • Adjust seasoning to taste—spice it up with cayenne or red pepper flakes if you like heat.
