Glazed Cinnamon Bars

Ingredients:

For the Bars:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Make the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Bake:
    • Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bars are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Prepare the Glaze:
    • While the bars are baking, mix together the powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon in a small bowl until smooth.
  7. Glaze the Bars:
    • Once the bars are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool for about 10 minutes.
    • Drizzle the glaze over the warm bars, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
  8. Cool and Serve:
    • Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting them into squares.
