  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon palm sugar, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons finely diced shallots
  • 1 teaspoon toasted chili flakes (to taste)
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs (cilantro, green onions, mint)

Instructions

For Yakiniku Sauce:

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the grated onion, minced garlic, ginger, and miso paste. Whisk to combine.
  2. Add the soy sauce, sugar, and sesame seeds, and whisk again until well mixed.
  3. Microwave the sauce for 30-40 seconds, just until the sugar dissolves. Add sesame oil if desired.
  4. Use immediately or store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

For Nam Jim Jeaw:

  1. Toast the jasmine rice in a dry skillet until golden brown, then grind into a coarse powder.
  2. In a bowl, mix together tamarind paste, fish sauce, lime juice, palm sugar, shallots, and toasted chili flakes.
  3. Stir in the toasted rice powder and fresh herbs just before serving.
