Ingredients:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
Instructions:
- Mix the Dough:
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, and salt.
- Add warm water and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel and let it sit at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours.
- First Rise:
- After the dough has rested, it should have risen and be bubbly.
- Lightly flour a clean work surface and your hands. Turn the dough out onto the surface and fold it over on itself a few times.
- Shape the dough into a ball.
- Second Rise:
- Place the dough ball seam-side down on a piece of parchment paper.
- Cover with a towel and let it rise for about 1 to 2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
- Preheat the Oven:
- About 30 minutes before the dough is ready, preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Place a Dutch oven or heavy pot (with the lid) in the oven to heat up.
- Bake the Bread:
- Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven from the oven.
- Use the parchment paper to lift the dough and place it in the hot pot.
- Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and crusty.
- Cool and Serve:
- Remove the bread from the pot and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
