We love hand-dipped corn dogs at fairs, carnivals, and of course Disney, but some of our favorite carnival foods, like churros, candy corn, and of course these corn dogs, are easy to recreate at home. . If you’re looking for fun, family-friendly recipes, you have to try these corn dogs!

Hot Dogs are essentially cornbread dough + hot dogs.This homemade corn dog recipe has the best honey batter. They are fried to perfection and have a crispy outside and a soft cornbread inside that keeps the sausage juicy.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour/flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk (regular milk). Also works)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 package (10 units) hot dogs
  • 10 skewers or wooden sticks
  • 2 liters vegetable oil for frying

INSTRUCTIONS:

*In medium or large size pot, add oil.
*Turn heat to medium and heat oil to 350 degrees F.
*In a large bowl, add cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. *Stir everything.
*Then add the beaten egg, buttermilk, oil and honey.*Stir until everything is well mixed. (The batter should be slightly thicker than pancake batter)
*Remove the sausages from the packaging.
*Dry them all with a paper towel (this will help the dough stick)
*Insert a skewer or wooden stick into each hot dog.
*Pour the batter into a tall glass.
*Hold the skewer, take a hot dog and dip it into the batter, covering the entire hot dog.*Slowly remove from the dough and allow some excess dough to drip back into the cup.
*Place it immediately in the hot oil without holding the stick.
*Turn if necessary to brown all sides.
*Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until all sides are golden brown.
*Remove from the hot oil and place on paper towels to drain the fat.*Repeat with all hot dogs.
