A great recipe for homemade meatballs. The meatloaf is tender and juicy on the inside, and its sweet and savory glaze adds plenty of flavor.
The concept of meatballs makes me raise my eyebrows because, well, it’s a loaf of meat. But when it’s done well, it’s just good. So filling, so comforting, and so delicious, I can’t wait to eat the leftovers in the next few days (hello meatball sandwich, I’m looking at you). This classic homemade meatloaf recipe is the traditional meatloaf we all know and love: tender, juicy, full of flavor, and topped with a perfectly seasoned tomato glaze. It tastes delicious with mashed potatoes and green beans. Like a dish of pure comfort!
INGREDIENTS
- 1 1/4 cup old fashioned oatmeal
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 package dried onion soup mix
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tbsp.Ketchup
- 1/2 TL. Pfeffer
Topping
- 1/4 T. Ketchup
- 1 TL. Worcestershire-Sauce
- 1 tsp. yellow mustard
INSTRUCTIONS
Pour the oatmeal into a large bowl and add the milk. Stir to coat the oats and let sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the milk. Add ground beef, eggs, onion soup mix, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup and pepper.
Mix everything with your hands and pour the oat flour into the meat. Once everything is mixed, place in a 9 x 9 pan and form into a loaf about 1 & 3/4 inch thick.Place in the oven at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.
In the meantime, prepare the topping by mixing the ingredients. After 30 minutes in the oven, take it out, spread the glaze on top and also spread it on the sides. Put it back in the oven for 10 minutes. Wait 5 minutes before cutting.
