Hot Sausage Beer Cheese Dip

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Italian sausage, removed from casing
  • 1 cup beer (lager or ale works best)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish
  • Tortilla chips or pretzels, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the Sausage:
    • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat.
  3. Prepare the Cheese Mixture:
    • In a large bowl, combine the beer, cheddar cheese, cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper.
    • Mix until well combined.
  4. Combine Ingredients:
    • Add the cooked sausage to the cheese mixture and stir until evenly distributed.
  5. Bake:
    • Transfer the mixture to a baking dish or oven-safe skillet.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden on top.
  6. Garnish and Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.
    • Garnish with chopped green onions.
    • Serve hot with tortilla chips or pretzels for dipping.
