If you’re craving a nostalgic, crowd-pleasing dessert, this Mama’s Banana Pudding is just what you need. With layers of fresh bananas, vanilla wafers, and luscious homemade pudding, it’s the perfect balance of creamy, sweet, and fruity — just like Mama used to make!

Ingredients:

  • 1 box (5.1 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix

  • 2 cups cold milk

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed

  • 4 bananas, sliced

  • 1 box vanilla wafers (Nilla Wafers preferred)

‍ Instructions:

1. Prepare the Pudding Mixture:

  • In a large bowl, whisk together pudding mix and cold milk for about 2 minutes until thickened.

  • Stir in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until smooth.

  • Fold in the whipped topping gently until fully incorporated.

2. Layer the Dessert:

  • In a 9×13-inch dish, add a layer of vanilla wafers on the bottom.

  • Top with a layer of banana slices.

  • Spoon and spread a layer of the pudding mixture over the bananas.

  • Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with pudding on top.

3. Chill and Serve:

  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (or overnight) for best flavor and texture.

  • Garnish with extra banana slices or crushed wafers before serving, if desired.

Tips for Best Results:

  • Use ripe but firm bananas to avoid mushiness.

  • Make the pudding a day ahead for deeper flavor.

  • For extra decadence, add a layer of whipped cream on top just before serving.
