Marinated Feta Cheese

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz block of feta cheese, cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for some heat)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill, finely chopped
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Feta:
    • Cut the block of feta cheese into cubes and place them in a clean jar or container.
  2. Make the Marinade:
    • In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, dried oregano, dried thyme, red pepper flakes (if using), fresh parsley, fresh dill, lemon zest, and freshly ground black pepper. Mix well.
  3. Marinate the Feta:
    • Pour the marinade over the feta cheese cubes, ensuring all the cubes are well coated with the mixture.
    • Seal the jar or container and gently shake to distribute the marinade evenly.
  4. Marinate:
    • Allow the feta to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to let the flavors meld together.
  5. Serve:
    • The marinated feta cheese can be served with crusty bread, added to salads, or used as a topping for various dishes.
