There are times when you really want a cake but don’t want to go to the trouble of baking it. Cut the butter into cubes, gradually add ice water, sprinkle flour on the work surfaces and knead the dough with the rolling pin… Sometimes it seems meditative, sometimes it’s just annoying.
Well, this simple typo is never annoying. There is no need to roll or cut it and it cooks beautifully.
- 2 cups 00 flour
- 1/2 cup selected oil
- 3 tablespoons cold water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
Lightly grease a 9-inch cake pan with nonstick spray. Put aside.
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt and yeast.
Add oil and water and stir until mixture is well blended. Form a ball.
Press the dough ball into the bottom of the prepared pan and spread it around the sides. Using the cubes or glass base, move it evenly across the bottom and sides of the glass.
Roll up or flatten the top edge with the tines of a fork, fill with your favorite filling and bake according to the cake recipe.
