Perfect Baked Potato
A simple yet timeless dish, the baked potato has been a staple on tables around the world for centuries. A perfect baked potato has a crispy exterior and a fluffy interior, making it an ideal base for a variety of toppings. The versatility of this dish allows it to shine as a main course or as a comforting side dish.Baked potatoes offer countless topping options.

 

Classic options include butter, sour cream, grated cheese and chives, while more elaborate variations may include chili, steamed broccoli and bacon. Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes, washed and dried
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Sea salt
  • Optional toppings: butter, sour cream, grated cheese, chives, bacon, chili, broccoli

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425° F (220°C). Place the oven rack in the center to ensure even cooking.
  2. Prick the potatoes several times with a fork. This allows steam to escape while cooking.
  3. Rub each potato with olive oil to bring out the crispy texture of the skin.Sprinkle sea salt evenly over the potatoes to enhance the flavor and texture of the skin.

 

  1. Place the potatoes directly on the middle rack of the oven. A baking sheet or aluminum foil can be placed on the bottom rack to catch any fat.
  2. Bake for 45 to 60 minutes, until the skin is crisp and the inside is tender as tested with a fork.
  3. Remove the potatoes from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes for easier handling.Cut a seam into the top of each potato, gently push the ends apart and fluff the inside with a fork.
  4. Serve the baked potatoes hot with toppings of your choice and enjoy the perfect harmony of textures and flavors that make this dish a timeless favorite.
