Polish Pasta Casserole is a delicious and hearty dish that is sure to please the whole family. It is a great way to bring together the flavors of Poland with the comfort of a classic casserole. This dish is packed with flavor and is sure to be a hit at any dinner table.
I remember when I first tried this dish. I was visiting family in Poland and my aunt served it for dinner. I was immediately taken aback by the delicious combination of flavors. The creamy sauce, the savory sausage, and the crunchy topping all came together perfectly. I knew I had to save the recipe and make it for my own family.
Ingredients:
- 1.5 lbs of smoked Polish sausage or kielbasa, sliced
- 4 cups of pasta of choice
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 2 tablespoons of flour
- 2.5 cups of milk
- 1 cup of bitter cream
- 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 jar of sauerkraut, washed and wholly drained, sixteen ounces
- 3 cups of grated Swiss cheese, divided
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Cook the pasta in accordance to bundle guidelines till al dente. Drain and set aside.
2. In a massive saucepan, soften the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook dinner for 1-2 minutes, until gently golden.
3. Gradually whisk in the milk and deliver to a simmer, stirring continuously till the sauce thickens.
4. Remove the saucepan from warmness and stir in the bitter cream, Dijon mustard, and garlic powder till nicely combined.
5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
6. In a 9×13-inch baking dish, layer 1/2 of the cooked pasta, sauerkraut, Polish sausage, and 1/2 of the grated Swiss cheese.
7. Pour half of of the sauce over the layers and unfold evenly.
8. Repeat the layers with the ultimate ingredients: pasta, sauerkraut, Polish sausage, cheese, and sauce.
9. Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or till the cheese is melted and bubbly.
10. Let it cool for a few minutes earlier than serving. Enjoy your scrumptious Polish Pasta Casserole!
