- 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Puff Pastry:
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet to smooth out any creases.
- Add the Fillings:
- Evenly sprinkle the shredded cheese over the entire surface of the puff pastry.
- Distribute the finely diced bell peppers and chopped green onions on top of the cheese.
- Sprinkle the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper evenly over the vegetables and cheese.
- Roll and Slice:
- Starting from one edge, tightly roll the puff pastry into a log, similar to a jelly roll.
- Using a sharp knife, slice the roll into 1/2-inch thick pinwheels.
- Prepare for Baking:
- Place the pinwheels cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to create an egg wash.
- Brush the tops of the pinwheels with the egg wash for a golden finish.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pinwheels are puffed and golden brown.
- Cool and Serve:
- Allow the pinwheels to cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
- Serve warm or at room temperature as a delightful appetizer or snack.
