HOMEMADE SPAGHETTI SAUCE

This sauce is full of Italian flavors! It will make ample to coat two kilos of spaghetti, however I typically simply use it for one pound of spaghetti and then we dip bread in the leftovers. It continues properly in the fridge for 4-5 days or in the freezer for a few months.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 pound floor beef
  • 1/2 pound floor pork see notes
  • 1 medium onion finely diced
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 56 oz canned overwhelmed tomatoes
  • 6 oz. tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon sugar or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pink pepper flakes

 

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a giant pot over medium heat, cook dinner the floor red meat and pork till no longer pink. Do no longer drain.
  2. Add the onion and garlic to the pot with the meat and cook dinner over low warmness till the onions are gentle and the garlic is fragrant.
  3. Add the final elements to the pot and simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, for 2-4 hours.
  4. Taste and add extra sugar, salt, or pink pepper as desired.

TIPS & NOTES:

  • We use simple floor pork in this recipe so that we’re higher capable to manipulate the seasonings. You can use Italian sausage if you prefer.
  • You can also replacement a half teaspoon every of basil, oregano, and rosemary plus a 1/4 teaspoon thyme in location of the Italian seasoning blend.
  • The longer this simmers, the richer, extra flavorful, and thicker it will be. You can pull it off early, however for the nice results, let it simmer for four hours over a low warmth and simply stir it occasionally.
