BAKED ZITI WITH ITALIAN SAUSAGE CASSEROLE

This basic dish of baked ziti with Italian sausage casserole is a timeless favourite – uncomplicated, wholesome, and fantastically satisfying. My cherished ones often request me to put together it, and I gladly oblige, as I revel in cooking for my household and friends. However, this recipe is so easy that all and sundry can make it! Feel free to serve this pleasant Italian-inspired casserole on any occasion, as it ensures a scrumptious and filling dinner.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound Italian sausage, casing removed
  • ½ yellow onion, small diced
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 pound dry ziti
  • 1 24-ounce jar marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • ½ cup chopped clean basil leaves (optional)
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

 

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 375 tiers Fahrenheit.
2. In a giant skillet on medium-high heat, brown and disintegrate the Italian sausage. Lower warmth to medium-low. Add onion and garlic, cooking for 1 extra minute.
3. Cook pasta in accordance to bundle instructions in a giant pot. Drain pasta and return to pot. Stir in sausage, marinara sauce and salt and pepper. Stir in basil and Parmesan cheese, if desired.
4. Transfer sausage and pasta combination into a casserole dish. Top with mozzarella cheese.
5. Loosely cowl with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and proceed to bake for 15 minutes, or till cheese turns golden brown.
6. Serve with oven-roasted zucchini.
