Caramel Apple Blondies

Ingredients

For the Blondies:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup peeled and chopped apples (such as Granny Smith)

For the Caramel Glaze:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Make the Blondie Batter:
    • In a large bowl, mix the melted butter and brown sugar until smooth. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chopped apples.
  3. Bake the Blondies:
    • Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the blondies are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
    • Allow the blondies to cool in the pan.
  4. Make the Caramel Glaze:
    • In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar together, stirring constantly until the mixture is smooth and bubbling. Remove from heat and stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
    • Gradually whisk in the powdered sugar until the glaze is smooth.
  5. Glaze the Blondies:
    • Pour the warm caramel glaze over the cooled blondies, spreading it evenly with a spatula. Allow the glaze to set before cutting the blondies into squares.
