Fried Chicken Drumsticks

Ingredients:

  • 8 chicken drumsticks
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Chicken:
    • In a large bowl, mix the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
    • Add the chicken drumsticks, ensuring they are fully submerged in the buttermilk mixture. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  2. Coat the Chicken:
    • In a shallow dish, place the flour.
    • Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, letting the excess drip off, and coat each drumstick in flour.
  3. Fry the Chicken:
    • In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about 1 inch of oil over medium heat.
    • Once the oil is hot (around 350°F or 175°C), add the drumsticks, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
    • Fry the chicken for about 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through.
    • Remove the chicken and let it drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped chives for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Potatoes:
    • Boil the potatoes in a large pot of salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
    • Drain and return the potatoes to the pot.
  2. Mash the Potatoes:
    • Add the milk and butter to the potatoes.
    • Mash until smooth and creamy.
    • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Garnish:
    • Serve the mashed potatoes with a sprinkle of chopped chives.

Serving:

  • Serve the fried chicken drumsticks alongside the mashed potatoes, garnished with additional chives if desired.
