Italian Sub Squares

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/4 pound (115 g) sliced ham
  • 1/4 pound (115 g) sliced salami
  • 1/4 pound (115 g) sliced pepperoni
  • 1/4 pound (115 g) sliced provolone cheese
  • 1/4 pound (115 g) sliced mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup (60 g) sliced red onions
  • 1/2 cup (75 g) sliced bell peppers
  • 1/2 cup (75 g) sliced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) Italian dressing
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Crust:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Unroll the crescent roll dough and press it into the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking dish to form the crust. Press the seams together to seal.
  2. Assemble the Layers:
    • Layer the ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone cheese, mozzarella cheese, red onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes over the crust.
    • Drizzle the Italian dressing and olive oil evenly over the top.
    • Sprinkle with oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
  3. Bake the Sub Squares:
    • Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
  4. Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Cut into squares and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
    • Serve warm or at room temperature.
