Apple Crumble Cake is an easy recipe that family and friends will try again and again.
Ingredients:
Cake:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1½ teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 cups diced apples
- 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
Ground topping:
- ⅓ cup light brown sugar
- ⅔ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ cup butter, cold
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F ( 350°F) and butter a 9-inch square pan or line it with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, combine chopped apples with lemon juice. - In another medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- In a bowl, beat the butter and both types of sugar until fluffy, about 4 minutes.Add egg and vanilla and mix until well combined.
- Add half of the dry ingredients and mix until well combined. Then add half of the sour cream and stir.
- Repeat with remaining flour and sour cream. Stir everything until smooth.Gently fold in the diced apples, being careful not to overmix them.
- Pour the dough into the prepared pan and spread it evenly around all edges.
- For the streusel topping, mix the flour, sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Add the cold butter and mix until a coarse flour forms.
- Sprinkle the cake batter with sprinkles.Bake until lightly browned and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 50 minutes. Allow to cool before serving.
