INGREDIENTS

  •  5 egg yolks
  •  1g salt
  •  50g sugar
  •  90g cake flour
  •  2g baking powder
  •  50g vegetable oil
  •  50g milk
  •  Meringue (5 egg whites + 70g sugar)

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 170°C (340°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
2. In a bowl, whisk egg yolks with salt till pale.
3. Gradually add sugar and proceed whisking till thick and creamy.
4. Sift cake flour and baking powder into the egg yolk mixture, fold gently till combined.
5. In a small saucepan, warmth vegetable oil and milk till warm, then add to the batter and combine well.
6. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites till smooth peaks form, then regularly add sugar, beating till stiff peaks form.
7. Gently fold the meringue into the batter till totally incorporated.
8. Pour the batter into the organized baking tray, unfold evenly.
9. Bake for 12-15 minutes till golden and springs again when touched.
10. Remove from oven, let it cool slightly.
11. Place a smooth kitchen towel on top, then flip the cake onto it, peel off the parchment paper.
12. Roll the cake with the towel, beginning from the shorter end.
13. Let it cool definitely in the rolled position.
14. Unroll the cake, unfold favored filling (e.g., jam, whipped cream) evenly.
15. Roll the cake once more gently.
16. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour earlier than slicing.
17. Slice, serve, and enjoy!
