Ingredients

For the Chocolate Cake Base

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup cocoa powder

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1 large egg

  • ½ cup milk

  • ¼ cup vegetable oil

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Cheesecake Layer

  • 16 oz (450 g) cream cheese, softened

  • ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar

  • 3 large eggs

  • ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Cherry Layer

  • 2 cups cherry pie filling or sweet cherries

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (if using fresh cherries)

For the Chocolate Topping

  • ½ cup heavy cream

  • 1 cup dark or semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

  • Chocolate shavings (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chocolate Cake Base
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a springform pan.
In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add egg, milk, oil, and vanilla, then mix until smooth. Pour into the pan and bake for 15–18 minutes. Let cool slightly.

  2. Make the Cheesecake Filling
Beat the cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in heavy cream and vanilla until creamy.

  3. Assemble the Layers
Spread cherries evenly over the chocolate cake base. Carefully pour the cheesecake filling on top.

  4. Bake the Cheesecake
Bake at 325°F (160°C) for 45–50 minutes, or until the center is just set. Turn off the oven and let the cheesecake cool inside with the door slightly open. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours.

  5. Prepare the Chocolate Topping
Heat heavy cream until hot but not boiling. Pour over chopped chocolate and let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.

  6. Finish and Decorate
Pour chocolate ganache over the chilled cheesecake. Garnish with cherries and chocolate shavings before serving.

Conclusion

This Black Forest Cheesecake is the ultimate dessert for chocolate and cherry lovers. With its beautiful layers, creamy texture, and rich flavors, it’s perfect for holidays, celebrations, or any time you want a truly decadent homemade dessert. Serve chilled and enjoy every luxurious bite.
