Buttery Pecan Pound Cake: A Classic Southern Treat

This Buttery Pecan Pound Cake is a true Southern classic, combining a rich, buttery cake with the crunch of toasted pecans. Topped with a smooth, caramel glaze, this dessert is perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon butter extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans, toasted

Caramel Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Cake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt or loaf pan. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla and butter extracts.
  2. Mix the Batter: In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Fold in the toasted pecans.
  3. Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  4. Prepare the Caramel Glaze: In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar and heavy cream. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let the glaze cool slightly before drizzling over the cooled cake.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Slice the cake and serve with a drizzle of caramel glaze. Enjoy the rich, buttery flavor with the crunch of toasted pecans in every bite.

Tips:

  • For added flavor, sprinkle a bit of sea salt over the caramel glaze.
  • Store the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

This Buttery Pecan Pound Cake is a delightful dessert that combines rich flavors and textures, making it a favorite for family gatherings, holidays, or any special occasion.
