Cheesy Beef and Bacon Pastry Pockets

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 strips of bacon, chopped
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 package puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
    • In the same skillet, add the onion and garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.
    • Add the ground beef, salt, and pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through.
    • Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and cooked bacon. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
    • Once cooled, mix in the shredded cheddar cheese.
  2. Assemble the Pastry Pockets:
    • Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into 4 equal squares.
    • Place a generous spoonful of the beef mixture in the center of each square.
    • Fold the pastry over the filling to form a triangle or rectangle and press the edges to seal. You can use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
    • Transfer the filled pastries to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Bake the Pastry Pockets:
    • Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg to give them a golden color.
    • Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown.
  4. Serve:
    • Allow the pastries to cool slightly before serving.
    • Enjoy these cheesy beef and bacon pastry pockets warm as a snack or appetizer!
