Cheesy Beef and Bacon Pastry Pockets
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 strips of bacon, chopped
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 package puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Filling:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- In the same skillet, add the onion and garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Add the ground beef, salt, and pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through.
- Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and cooked bacon. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Once cooled, mix in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Assemble the Pastry Pockets:
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into 4 equal squares.
- Place a generous spoonful of the beef mixture in the center of each square.
- Fold the pastry over the filling to form a triangle or rectangle and press the edges to seal. You can use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
- Transfer the filled pastries to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake the Pastry Pockets:
- Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg to give them a golden color.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown.
- Serve:
- Allow the pastries to cool slightly before serving.
- Enjoy these cheesy beef and bacon pastry pockets warm as a snack or appetizer!
