Homemade Filled Doughnuts – Soft, Fluffy & Irresistibly Delicious

These Homemade Filled Doughnuts are soft, golden, and perfectly rolled in sugar before being filled with rich vanilla cream, silky custard, fruity jam, or peanut butter. A bakery-style treat you can make at home, ideal for breakfast, brunch, or any sweet craving!


Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¾ cup warm milk (not hot)

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Vegetable oil for frying

  • Granulated sugar for rolling

For the Fillings (choose one or mix):

  • Vanilla pastry cream

  • Custard

  • Strawberry or raspberry jam

  • Nutella or peanut butter

  • Whipped cream


‍ Instructions

Step 1: Make the Dough

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk with sugar and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

  2. Add eggs, melted butter, vanilla, and salt. Gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms.

  3. Knead the dough for 5–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled.

Step 2: Shape & Fry

  1. Roll dough to about ½-inch thickness. Cut into rounds using a cutter.

  2. Place on parchment paper, cover, and let rise for another 30–40 minutes.

  3. Heat oil in a pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry 2–3 doughnuts at a time, about 1–2 minutes per side.

  4. Remove and drain on paper towels. Roll in granulated sugar while warm.

Step 3: Fill

  1. Use a piping bag fitted with a round tip to inject your filling into the center of each doughnut.

  2. Serve fresh and enjoy!


Tips:

  • Chill your fillings slightly for easier piping.

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container, unfilled doughnuts freeze well.
